My super talented friend, Chris Adler, is working on dramatic short called Ono.

"We all have demons we fight to keep hidden away from view. Sam, a smart twenty-something is no different. As she sits alone in a coffee shop lost in a great book, a mysterious girl named Ono enters Sam's world and begins to tear her world apart."

This film "explores the fragility of our existence, exposes the complexity of our relationships, and celebrates the resilience of the human spirit."

I took the wee ones on a mommy-son date to see BRAVE.  We loved it,with a capital L!

RECO

I'm gushing with friend pride!

Do you remember my post about my high school friend, who is now an award winning film director? If you want to have a looksee at his award winning short film, Reco, it's on his website.

"Fear of the unknown.

We all face it daily. How often are we afraid to seek or reveal truth for fear of the knowledge it brings?

The story of Reco explores this as Annie embarks on a destined journey on horseback across Utah's back country. Sent to fetch her adoptive grandmother, she meets a woman and confronts a past that leads her to a life changing discovery.

But first, she has to come to terms with the vivid and fearful dreams that have haunted her for most of her life and risk asking the questions that could bring the truth she's been seeking."

THE WORLD PREMIER OF

Detention of the Dead is going to be Friday, April 27 at 6:00pm at the Newport Beach Film Festival.Lookie at that beautiful LongBoardLarry board in this film still. It makes our heart skip a beat or two.
The six main characters are played by Jayson Blair and Max Adler,
Jacob Zachar and Justin Chon,
Alexa Nikolas and Christa B. Allen and the movie was directed by Alex Craig Mann.

"Comedy and horror unite in this "The Breakfast Club" meets "Shaun of the Dead" tale about a group of oddball high school students who find themselves trapped in detention with their classmates having turned into a horde of Zombies. Can they put their differences aside and work together to survive the night? Fat chance! This is high school after all."

Seriously, who doesn't love zombies? This movie is going to be awesome. We are so excited!

WALKAWAY

Have you heard of it? You will and it's going to be amazing. My friend, Chris Adler, created this project. In 2010, he also wrote and directed the award winning short film Reco.

This teaser trailer for Walkaway was created to introduce you to the characters and the events leading up to where the series begins.

Walkaway is a new dramatic web series following a journey a man takes to reconnect with his estranged daughter. The series will be presented in a family-friendly format and is scheduled to begin production in the early summer of 2012.

This independent project will only be funded if at least $50,000 is pledged by Saturday, March 31. To help back this project, you can pledge as little as $1.

Do you remember when I posted about Zombies and LongBoardLarry having something in common? This is it!!

Detention of the Dead is when "Comedy and Horror unite in this “The Breakfast Club” meets “Shaun of the Dead” tale about a group of oddball high school students who find themselves trapped in detention during a Zombie Apocalypse."

Ash (Justin Chon who plays Eric in the Twlight movies) will be riding our board. If you click "LINKS" on the Detention of the Dead webpage, Ash rides across the screen.

We will keep you posted as we learn new information and the movie release date. Needless to say, WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!

MOVIE REVIEW, ACCORDING TO US

They are beautiful but some of them have ulterior motives...
We saw Kung Fu Panda 2 last week, we give it two family fun thumbs up and now we want a peacock.
If only our yard was bigger and our puppy would leave it alone. If you get one, let us know so we can visit.

TODAY WAS

International Waffle Day and we celebrated eating a blueberry waffle dinner topped with strawberries and pure maple syrup. It was berry delicious.

We saw Diary of a Wimpy Kid:Rodrick Rules this afternoon too and we thought it was super funny. We give it a man clan approved 2 thumbs up.

PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

When I saw a recipe containing pumpkin and chocolate posted on One Charming Party, I knew I had to try it.
It is so good and was super easy to make vegan.
My man clan and their taste buds are so happy right now!

1 1/2 cups sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup canned pumpkin

2 cups flour

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1 cup chocolate chips

Cream the sugar and butter. Mix in the egg, vanilla and pumpkin. In another bowl whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon. Add flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture. Mix just until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees.

To make the cookies vegan, I substituted butter, egg and chocolate for Earth Balance buttery sticks, Ener G egg substitute and Sunspire vegan chocolate chips.

We ate the cookies while watching The Little Vampire. I love October!

PART 1 - STEPHANIE-PALOOZA AT THE BEACH

We started our sister's weekend with a manicure - I'm sporting "Grace Kelly" and Steph has "Viking Copper".
Check my nails out when you see me, because you know me well if you know it won't last long....

We drove into Newport and I had my first vegan restaurant meal at Savory Cafe and it was SO GOOD.
So good, in fact, that we went back for lunch the next day to try another menu item...

We had fun exploring the streets of Nye Beach...

And we had the most amazingly beautiful sunset to end our evening out.

We headed back to our hotel, watched Valentine's Day and called it a night...

Bright Star is a beautiful romantic love story that I didn't want to end.

Ben Whishaw is an adorable John Keats - I wanted to know him more. I was swooning...

Back to the Future 1, 2 & 3 were on Nick at the beginning of the week.
We thought the older boys would really enjoy them.
They did but the wee ones LOVED them.
Now if we just knew of someone who owns a delorean....

MOVIE REVIEW, ACCORDING TO ME

I watched Forever Strong via Netflix instant queue with my oldest this afternoon and we LOVED it.
It's a wonderful, inspiring, feel good, based on a true story, movie that we'll be watching again as a family.
We give it two enthusiastic thumbs up....

I saw a late night showing of Eat, Pray, Love last night with my sis.
I liked it! I found myself smiling and giggling a lot and wiping my eyes here and there.
The scenery is gorgeous and I want to purchase tickets for me and my man clan for Italy and Bali....

SET YOUR DVR'S

for tomorrow, Friday July 16 for 8pm on NBC for The Jensen Project....It is a movie that will promote wholesome family values in a positive manner, has no objectionable content, is family-friendly and only appropriate ads will run during commercial breaks.
Rating will determine the future of family films and possibly spinoffs of new television programs.
Help show the networks and the movie's corporate sponsors that this type of entertainment is wanted and appreciated.
We'll be having a family movie night at our house. I hope you will too.

WE CELEBRATED OUR ANNIVERSARY

with a double-feature date at Cinebarre where we noshed on Big Lewbowskis, Braveheart, a Twister and diet Coke....

(A.K.A. deep fried pickles, a sundried tomato, artichoke heart, goat cheese pizza and an Oreo cookies and creme shake and diet Coke)...

We saw Knight and Day.....

And The Last Airbender....

In between movies we may have played with apps on our phones....
