OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF

witches, goblins and ghouls...

My 9th great grandmother,
Rebecca Towne Nurse,
was hung as a
witch

in the 1692 Salem Witchtrials.  My 9th great grandfather was too - John Proctor.

Rebecca's two sisters, Mary Towne Eastey and Sarah Towne Cloyce and my other 9th great grandmother, Elizabeth Proctor were victims also.  Mary was hung.  Sarah was accused but never indicted.  Elizabeth was granted a stay of execution because she was pregnant.

Crazy, right?!

Wow Laura! That is really interesting. Very sad - but weirdly very cool that you have history like that in your family - and that you were able to find out so much information. Love you!

That's crazy Laura! Who found that out? Someone doing their geneology or has the story been passed down from generation to generation?

It's been passed down and there is a family association that preserves her homestead.
It's such a sad story but makes for some great family history!!
