HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO YOU

We started off our Independence Day celebrations with a parade in Independence.
It is the cutest parade with SO MUCH small town enthusiasm, spirit and excitement.  We are usually at the beach to celebrate the 4th, so this was our first time at this parade.
Larry, Laird and a few other longboarders decided to participate in the parade and of course the infamous couch was in it too.
Needless to say, it was a super fun morning and now my man clan have only one thing on their minds - fireworks!

INDEPENDENCE DAY

We usually go down to the beach for Independence Day, but with it falling on a Wednesday, it changed our plans this year.
We had a bbq in our backyard and then went to see the fireworks at Salem Riverfront Park.
Stephanie reminded our family of a story from the biography of our 3rd great grandmother, Sarah DeArmon Pea Rich.
She would sit at her grandfather's feet and help him work at night.  He would tell her stories of the war to keep her awake.  Her grandfather (our 5th great grandfather) served as a body guard to General George Washington for awhile and told her how he was a great man and that every night would go into his tent and pray for everyone under his command.

That story warms my heart.  I hope that you had a wonderful Independence Day celebration.

WE HAVE USED THE LAST

of them. Someone excitedly brought home more because he found them for 50% off.
Now they are all gone.
I am happy.
Although some of them are pretty, most of them are obnoxious.
Have I told you I'm happy?

ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PLACES

is at the beach for 4th of July weekend. This year we watched fireworks at Boiler Bay and, luckily for us, some whales showed up for the show too. Family, snacks, blankets (lots of them - it was super windy), bubbles, energetic boys, light sabers, laughter, whales and fireworks = an awesome Independence Day celebration.
Where did you celebrate?

HAVE A PATRIOTIC WEEKEND

I'm so thankful for my ancestors who fought for and defended this country. I pray daily for the safety and protection for those who are protecting us now.

I am thankful for the blessings that I have because I live in the United States of America. May we always have liberty, love, freedom and honor.

Have a wonderful weekend celebrating Independence Day, my friends.

Let freedom ring!

THE WEE-EST OF THE WEE

was not digging the fireworks this year, so we spent most of the evening indoors watching a flick.
Although I was disappointed about not being able to experiment with firework photography, I was able to get a few I'm happy with.
But firework photography vs. snuggling, I'll take snuggling for sure!
My sister got some fun firework shots.
Our neighbors down the street had some illegals and her patience with timing paid off.

ARMED WITH THE HOLGA SETTING ON

my phone, I was able to capture some of our 4th of July fun....
I hope your celebration was fun and safe!

A DECLARATION

I saw this on Charlene's blog and loved it!

WAITING FOR DADDY, WAITING FOR

big brother, waiting for dinner to see cousins at the park, waiting for night fall to see fireworks, waiting, waiting, waiting.....
There are a few people over here that have ants in their pants....

WE ARE REALLY MISSING CELEBRATING

Independence Day at the beach with Grandma and Grandpa Joan.
The man clan and I have 86'd anymore future races that fall on this weekend.

It just isn't the same....

This country has fought many wars for its freedom.
Don't take it for granted - it's precious.

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Independence Day weekend!

I'M STILL LAMENTING THE

loss of my pocket camera and my "big" camera is at a race this weekend with Larry and our first born.
I'm lost without a camera!
Thankfully I have my camera phone....

We've been busy this morning making and eating Independence Day strawberries.
Strawberries, white chocolate and sprinkles can count as breakfast, right?

OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND

got off to a
slow start with
a road closure due
to an accident
involving
3 cars and a motorcycle.

There were serious

injuries but thankfully
no fatalities...

When we finally arrived in Lincoln City, we had a lot of fun with the family.

The boys had a blast with with their cousins, the tent, the beach and lots & lots & lots of fireworks...

How was your weekend?
