AN IRISH FAMILY TRADITION

was brought over to us tonight by Grandma Joan - a sprouting potato....Let the potato sprout a few more days, cut into wedges and leave out to seal.
Plant in soil and when it grows, you dig them up and you have a "pot of gold"en potatoes to eat!

Thanks Grandma Joan!

I've never heard of this. My grandmother - born and raised in Ireland. My husband is a "McCabe". I love it - I am going to do it today. When you say "put in water to seal", just drop in some water for a minute or something? What if they don't grow (Phoenix is harsh), is tht bad luck? Oh, I might need to reconsider.

You put them in water over night.

Good luck with your planting! :-)

Enjoy your gardening, but be careful, potato foliage is poisonous. We don't grow them because we still have grazers.
